Readmission

If you are an undergraduate who wants to return to UC Santa Cruz after an absence of a portion of a quarter or more, you must file an Application for Readmission. The application form is available online at the colleges readmission website. The completed application should be filed with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions during the appropriate period:

Quarter of Attendance Application Filing Period
Fall quarter January 1–March 31 (by *May 31 for late applications)
Winter quarter July 1–September 30
Spring Quarter October 1–December 31
 Summer Quarter April 1–May 31

* Approval during the extended filing period is subject to the discretion of the college. Applicants filing for fall readmission during the extended filing period between April 1 and May 31 may not be approved. Those who are approved will have a late enrollment appointment. Class selection and availability may be limited. To ensure timely processing and enrollment opportunities, we strongly recommend all fall readmission applications be filed by March 31.

There is a $70 filing fee, which is nonrefundable and nontransferable. The filing fee will be billed to your student account; you are responsible for this fee even if you do not return to UCSC.

If during your absence you attended another UC campus, an official transcript must be submitted to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions before your application will be sent to your college for approval. If you attended another collegiate institution, your UC Santa Cruz college may require a transcript. If you left for health reasons, clearance from the Cowell Student Health Center is required. You must pay all outstanding bills owed to the university before you will be permitted to register.
