BIOL 10 Fundamentals of Biology

Review of basic biochemical and biological principles, preparing students for BIOL 20A. Draws connections between chemistry concepts and their importance in biology. Covers basic structure of DNA and proteins, functions of genes, DNA replication and expression, chromosomes, key cellular components.

Requirements

Prerequisite(s): previous or concurrent enrollment in CHEM 3A or CHEM 4A. Enrollment is restricted to frosh and sophomore majors and proposed majors in biology, biochemistry and molecular biology, biotechnology, biomolecular engineering and bioinformatics, ecology and evolutionary biology, global and community health, human biology, marine biology, molecular cell and developmental biology, and neuroscience.
