EART 278A Theoretical Seismology

Elastic wave propagation in homogeneous and inhomogeneous media, with a focus on developing mathematical tools and physical intuition. Topics include pulse propagation, ray theory, surface waves, leaky modes, anelasticity, and scattering. (Formerly Advanced Seismology.)

Requirements

Enrollment is restricted to graduate students. Undergraduates may enroll with permission of the instructor. Basic familiarity with differential equations and integral transforms is recommended for preparation.
