ECON 126 Health Care Markets

Examines health care provision and health insurance through lens of economics and strategy. Eexplores three key aspects of the health care system: insurance plans, physician visits, and hospital care. In each area, historical and policy contexts are introduced, the behaviors of consumers and providers explored through theory and empirics, and the implications for policy and practice discussed.

Requirements

Prerequisite(s): current of previous passing enrollment in ECON 1 or ECON 20. Basic knowledge of calculus and derivatives (e.g., AM 11A, MATH 11A, MATH 19A) is recommended but not required. Enrollment is restricted to sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
