ART 131 Painting with Fire

Advanced studio-painting course exploring thematic development using the broad topic of fire as a starting point. Course is divided into four thematic units: color temperature, ecology, experimental process, and independent directions. The visual ideas of abstraction, representation, and metaphor are used to sharpen analytical skills and personal vision across all units, while interrogating associations with fire from the personal to the global.

Requirements

Prerequisite(s): One from ART 20J, ART 130, ART 133, ART 137, ART 138; and two non-painting lower-division studios from ART 15, ART 20G, ART 20H, ART 20I, ART 20K, ART 20L, ART 26. Enrollment is restricted to art majors.
