LIT 201A Basic Principles of University Pedagogy
Introduction to the skills and knowledge required for success working as a teaching assistant in the Humanities. In each module, students engage with pedagogical strategies and practical teaching techniques that will prepare them to facilitate inclusive and engaging discussion sections and provide equitable feedback on student work in Humanities courses. In addition, students learn basic elements of course design that prepare them for putting together a syllabus based on equity and inclusion while maintaining the level of rigor necessary in a university classroom. This is done through a combination of in-class lectures, presentations, group discussions, role-plays, readings, and graded assignments.
