LIT 167W Wildfire in the West: Literature, Art, Theory
Investigates wildfire as an ecological reality and a cultural symbol shaping narratives of the American West. Considers how a range of writers, artists, filmmakers, and theorists envision fire in terms of destruction and renewal, natural processes and human impacts. Theoretical readings emphasize the significance of fire within the context of settler colonialism and Indigenous land practices.
