CMPM 233 Evaluating Computational Media Interfaces

Introduces methods and techniques for user research evaluation of various types of interfaces. Students review and apply various methods to study user interaction at different stages of development. These include heuristic evaluation and methods that involve conducting user studies, such as observations, surveys, and interviews. In some cases, students use methods to test concept design that may involve a Wizard of Oz approach, where a human takes the role of an AI, making decisions about the interface or interaction behind the scenes. Students learn how to apply these methods and evaluate interaction at various levels of development.

Requirements

Enrollment is restricted to graduate students in computational media and human computer interaction.
