HISC 207 Undisciplining Theory
Deep, critical reading of key authors in contemporary philosophical and social thought, focusing on the undisciplined elements that inform and drive their work. Exploring the reach and potential of thinking that moves beyond fixed theories and conceptual allegiances, course avoids the disciplining and self-referential inertia that generates rigid disciplines, fields, or dogma. What problems and events prompted a specific theoretical intervention? What practices are invited in a text? Course explores how emerging problems can challenge a theory's relevance and inspire our own thinking to creatively engage with change.
