LALS 213 Historical Methods in LALS

Seminar introducing graduate students to the “how” of historical research methods, specifically, their application to interdisciplinary investigations in Latin American and Latino Studies. Focuses on different key methods within the broader umbrella of historical research and writing including: the implementation of critical archival approaches, conducting oral histories, digital tools in historical research and dissemination, and public history and interpretation. Also discusses topics of interdisciplinarity in historically grounded and historiographic research/writing, practical organizational strategies for data collection and storage, and the bureaucracy of preparing a research plan that involves work at archives or other institutional contexts.
