Provides research experiences and mentorship in STEM disciplines. Enrollment in the course requires students to be participating in a research-oriented training program at UCSC such as MARC, CAMP, CAMINO, UC LEADS, and others. The course emphasizes research skills, scientific communication, and professional development, including presenting research findings and preparing for graduate school. Students either complete a research project in a mentor’s laboratory or participate in the PBSci Summer Research Institute. Students gain tools to advance their academic and professional goals. Course is offered for Pass/No pass grading only. Enrollment is by permission of the instructor. Students must have arrangements with a faculty mentor who will sponsor their summer research or be participating in the Summer Research Institute organized by the STEM Diversity Program team. Once these conditions are met, students should obtain final permission of the instructor.
