LIT 202 Translation and Translingual Practice

This seminar provides an opportunity to explore translation as a cultural, political, and artistic practice by looking at the foundational bond that binds language and identity. It maps the historical development of theories of translation and the development of the field of translation studies, allowing for a richer understanding of the act of translation and its multifaceted implications. It also considers the creative, cultural engagement with different translingual practices—the creative uses of multiple languages in a single work or context.
