COWL 156M Medical Ethics

How do we understand pain? How do we make ethical decisions on topics like organ transplantation and reproduction? What is the role of genetic technology in the future of medicine? What are the ethics of healthcare? What does climate change have to do with bioethics? In this interdisciplinary course, students delve into the morality and ethics of medicine, using bioethical frameworks to take on important scientific and human questions. This course is suitable for everyone, but in particular those interested in medical anthropology, pre-med, environmental studies, sociology, history of science, and philosophy.
