MUSC 8A Beginning Balinese Gamelan

Instruction in Balinese gamelan. Utilizes pitched percussion instruments to learn highly ornate and complex pieces through rote learning. Focuses on traditional repertoire and basic gamelan techniques for public performance. Students are not required to read music, but some music and/or performance experience is recommended.
