ENVS 107C Natural History Field Quarter: Perspectives on CA Ecosystem Management
Intensive 20-credit course with multiweek field trips. Students apply naturalist skills to scientific inquiry, ecosystem management, and communication, and cultivate leadership and professional skills for outdoor careers.
ENVS 107C explores California ecosystem management including the roles of wildfire, water resources, invasive species, climate change, and conservation policy. Students analyze issues from multiple angles, including Indigenous stewardship, legal, economic, scientific, and local perspectives. Through field observations, case studies, guest experts, and constructive debate, students broaden their perspective-taking, active listening, and critical-thinking skills. Prerequisite(s): concurrent enrollment in
ENVS 107A, 107B, and 107D. Course is open to all majors, but ENVS majors must also have previously enrolled in
ENVS 100 and
