ANTH 130K Food Cultures in South Asia

Designed to prepare students to adopt food as an analytical lens to explore the relationship between environmental sustainability and social justice in the South Asia. It draws from ethnographic texts, films, and recipe books to provide an overview of contemporary debates, insights, and politics. Examines how everyday food practices shape gender, religion, caste, and class. Students interested in emerging food trends and consumption will connect with diverse grassroots food initiatives, including food justice initiatives from indigenous communities.
