ANTH 151D Introduction to Design Anthropology

This hands-on, immersive, collaborative course introduces students to “design anthropology,” a field of research and analysis that integrates ethnographic methods with principles and approaches drawn from the arts, business, science and technology studies, computer science, engineering, and other related fields. The course covers major debates, methods, and professional opportunities in design anthropology through readings, practical exercises, group activities, and a quarter-long research project that will mimic the design process used by professionals. Students work on collaborative research project through all stages from project development to research to analysis to presentation.
